While the court case between Ripple Labs and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continues to await a ruling from the U.S. Southern District Court of New York, rumors have arisen in the XRP community that the judge in charge, Analisa Torres, is part of the “deep state.” Due to this, supporters of the theory expect Ripple to lose against the SEC.

However, respected XRP community attorney John E. Deaton, who represents 75,000 XRP investors with an amicus brief, vehemently disagrees with this theory. According to him, Ripple and XRP are “lucky” to have Judge Torres.

Rumors About Judge Torres In The Ripple Case

The theory that Judge Torres is part of the “deep state” was shared by a popular Twitter account in the XRP community with 141,000 followers. He wrote that Ripple will lose the case against the SEC because Judge Torres allegedly belongs to an elite circle, the deep state.

The supposed proof of this is that Judge Torres dismissed a case against two jail guards who admitted to falsifying records on the night of Jeffery Epstein’s death.

For context, Epstein was an American investment banker who was charged in 2019 with prostitution, human trafficking and multiple counts of rape of minors. He was accused of abusing dozens of girls and providing them to his elite friends.

On August 10, 2019, Epstein was found dead in his cell in New York. Officials believe he committed suicide. However, due to missing surveillance cameras and falsified documents, it is speculated that Epstein was murdered to protect the secrets of powerful people in the government.

However, Deaton stated that people are misreading the decision. Judge Torres dismissed the case against the two guards on formal grounds.

“People are reading this entirely wrong. People read that Judge Torres dismissed the case vs two guards who falsified records related to Epstein and then make the crazy leap that Judge Torres is part of the deep state and will thus decide in favor of the SEC. Absolutely not true, ” Deaton said.

According to the attorney, Judge Torres did not summarily dismiss the case as the rumor assumes She dismissed the case pursuant to an agreement “after prosecutors said in a filing last week that the guards completed deferred prosecution. Deaton added, “We were lucky to get Judge Torres.”

At press time, the XRP price was at $0.3638. With this, the price had its major support level at $0.3708 flipped to the downside.
